Yankees meet with Juan Soto as competition in free agency grows

The Yankees were the latest team to have an in-person meeting with Juan Soto, sitting down with the superstar and his agent Scott Boras in California on Monday.
Other clubs like the Mets, Red Sox and Blue Jays have already had a chance to meet with Soto and his team as well.
Now, another high-spending contender is expected to join the fray.
If winning is truly a top priority for Soto when it comes to his decision on the open market this winter — in addition to the money and other factors — then this team could have an edge of sorts.
Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reported Monday night that the Dodgers will be the next team to meet with Soto and Boras. Their meeting will happen early on this week, possibly as soon as Tuesday.

RESTORING THE GLORY
Los Angeles defeated the Yankees in the World Series last month and if all goes according to plan, their star-studded roster and aggressive front office will bring home a few more championships moving forward. Can you imagine a lineup with Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts and Juan Soto?
There is a narrative that Soto wants to stay on the East Coast, though. Points go to the Yankees and Mets, among others, if that’s the case. Those New York teams are viewed as favorites in the Soto sweepstakes as they check all those boxes while Mets owner Steve Cohen could end up blowing every team away in contract negotiations.
But if Soto is taking the time to meet with the Dodgers, there is at least some level of interest. In fact, Jon Heyman of the New York Post downplayed the notion that geography will rule out a team like the West Coast in a report on Monday night.
